Cat stopped eating for no reason?

I’m so worried about our young cat. He was missing for a few nights. When he came home he was barely eating.

We have tried loads of foods and long story short, 3 vet trips later he had had fluids for dehydration, antibiotics, medicines to stop nausea and stimulate appetite. But the damn cat is barely eating, will take a small bit of wet food or biscuits and has an interest in food and water but is losing weight.

No sign of injury, vomiting, possibly slight fever on last visit hence antibiotics but behaviour is normal ie. Not hiding or avoiding people.

Vet suggested sedating him for a scan and who knows what afterwards, we’re not covered with insurance so as well as heightened worry im not sure how many thousands we can throw at it 😓

Anyone had similar issues and can offer suggestions or stories please?

Such a worry and I have no real advice.
My cat didn't eat for 3 days a few weeks ago and had upset tummy. Picked up the day after we went to the vets. I kept offering lic a lix which he took eventually. And knew he was poorly when he wouldn't even take them.

Have you tried roasted chikxne skin to try and tempt him?

We’ve tried tuna and mackerel and he did eat a little of each.

today’s he’s had special cat food from the vet for poorly cats and has eaten some but small amounts. Pleased I managed to get his appetite stimulant tablet inside him this evening and he is maybe eating a little more than yesterday. But poor cat can still feel his skinny spine and see his gaunt looking tummy.

When our kitten was tiny, a vet nurse recommended half a sachet of Fortiflora probiotic sprinkled over wet food twice a day. I've kept a box on hand ever since as it works a treat for any sort of upset stomach or loss of appetite. Cheaper at Pets at Home than the vet too. Hope your cat is on the mend soon

I bought this as well after cat was poorly as remembered it from when he was a kitten and had runny tummy.
It seems to encourage them to eat anything you put it on. Got mine from amazon.

Maybe try a small amount of raw mince, or some cooked chicken. Lik-e lix are a go-to in our house as well, as a pp suggests. Also perhaps offer cat milk.

Are all his claws intact or are some of them a bit shredded? That can be a sign of having been in some kind of accident or a fight. I'm assuming the vet checked thoroughly to make sure he hasn't been shot with an airgun, and also ruled out poisoning.

It is a bit unusual for a cat that has been missing to not want to eat. Usually they come back absolutely starving.

How is you kitty @LawdAMercy if you haven't tried lic a lix it would be worth a try, if my cat turns his nose up at his food I squirt a bit on and he then eats it.

Thanks for asking @Sunshineandrainbow Hes the same, am going to weigh home tonight in the hope his weight has stabilised over the weekend but I’m not holding out much hope.

He was scanned briefly by the vet who found an internal lump, wasn’t painful but am wondering if if could be cancerous

I hope your cat has picked up a bit @LawdAMercy

Sorry to year about your kitty. Our (elderly) cat was recently off his food and seemed to be in pain. After a blood test he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The vet said that in some cases it can be brought on by a cat eating / nibbling on something they shouldn’t (eg. lilies and tulips!) so perhaps ask your vet for a blood test to rule this out?

hope you get to the bottom of it and that your cat picks up x
