Dry food alternative?

HideousKinky · 06/05/2025 10:28

My cat is 13 years old and eats both wet & dry food.

Sometimes when I am away overnight I use an automatic feeder and put dry food in this as I am concerned wet food might go off, especially in warm weather.

My cat might need to have some teeth extracted which the vet tells me could leave him unable to eat dry food any more.

Do any of you know of a cat food product that can be left overnight without deteriorating which I could use on the occasions when I'm away instead of dry food?

Just get a timed feeder with an ice pack in.

Mine had no teeth and was fine - the gums harden, kind of like when you’re weaning a baby! He happily gummed his way through a raw chicken wing no issues and would eat crunchy treats

You could freeze the wet food that your cat is due to get the following evening.
If it doesn't have space for a frezzer pack in it you could put one on top of the feeder.

Thank you for your responses.
I did not know you could get an automatic feeder with an ice pack so will probably get one of these

Like @lovegoodlovegood’s cat, my mum’s cat had all her teeth taken out (unexpectedly) and she managed to gum hard food once she’d recovered
