So far we have: 1 big bag (1.5kg) of dry food, 24 pouches of wet food.
Cat bed, cat carrier, a couple of toys. Litter tray.
Is there anything else I need to get before we get him?
I don’t have a food and water bowl yet so planning to use some old ones I have homw and then get some for him.
Anything I need to be aware of safety-wise (for him I mean)?

We need photos!

It’ll run under furniture at first. Make sure that the kitten cones to you and isn’t grabbed by anyone. S/he should develop early confidence with people through kind and careful handling.

Safety wise:

I was told by Cat's Protection to keep the toilet lid closed while they are small so they can't fall in and drown. They also terrified me by telling me about one of the kittens that was adopted from them that was killed in a washing machine. I still do what I think of as the kitten count, after closing the washing machine door and before running it, even though mine are eleven now and highly unlikely to manage to wedge themselves in with a wash without me noticing.

Check you don't have any plants or flowers that are toxic. Lilies are the ones to really watch out for, you definitely don't want them in the house with cats.

I'm also excitedly looking forward to kitten photos!

Another kitten so they can play together!

All rather late comments I know, but useful none the less for not just you but anyone else using this thread as a guide.

When my cats came home they managed to get inside the workings of the recliner section of the sofa through the covers. So if you have a recliner, ensure you know for sure where the kitten is before engaging it! I was told a horror story by the woman who ran the rescue about a cat being crushed by a recliner chair, the story never left me.

If you have a chimney, try to block it up - can be an absolute pain trying to get a cat down. Kick boards in the kitchen - they can be very good at getting behind those. Cats, especially kittens, can get into the smallest of gaps like a drawer left open what you think is just an inch or two, or under furniture that isn't quite to the floor. Even though I've had her about 8-9 years now, I know just about all her hiding places, & she's not the smallest of cats (long & lean, but 5.5kg) I can still lose Girlcat in the house occasionally.

Keep all wires out the way they love to destroy things like headphones wires or charging cables
