How to survive 4 weeks indoors?

We’ve just adopted a lovely and lively kitten and we need to keep her in for several weeks… but how?

Shes tiny, super fast and an escapologist. We have quickly discovered that we simply don’t have enough doors in our house! The weather is so warm and it would be great to be able to open the windows…
(We also have 2 children who are used to leaving everything open, 2 guinea pigs who are currently securely shut away in the one proper room with a proper door…

Any tips about how to manage this stage bit better?

also she is supposed to be house trained but has not used her tray (so far). Is it ok to shut her in one room with the tray at night until she gets the hang of it - issue is she wants to be near us and the only remaining room with a proper door is a small bathroom (albeit as big as her pen at the rehoming centre…)

pic attached as required!

She's lovely, congratulations!

Could you get window nets so you can have a few open?

Tbh I expect she will escape a few times with careless children about. She probably won't go far. My 7 yr old son left the front door wide open when we had just got our rescue cat and he got out. We walked around the neighbourhood for ages before we found him hiding in a bush a few metres from the door he'd gone out. He scared himself and then didn't even try to get out again for a while.

It's fine to keep her in one room for a little bit until she gets her bearings - in fact it's recommended.

Thank you- she’s my first cat (DH and the DCs have worn me down) but she’s sending my anxiety through the roof! I might sleep tonight if she is enclosed…

When we get a new cat I keep it in one room for a bit, could be as little as a few hours to a day as long as it knows where the litter tray and food is.

A seven month old cat I'd let out after a few days tbh as long as it is reasonably settled with you and is eating and using the toilet happily.

Four weeks sounds a bit OTT for a normal cat.

She’s very settled - already sleeping on laps etc!

She is lovely!
When we adopted our kitten she was younger and not spayed so kept her in ( with difficulty) until then! We did one room for a few days- moving to out in day, room in night. It definitely got easier!
