He's 18, he's got a reduced appetite. Vet suggested steroid injections. Realistically how long has he got? He's not in pain and the injections will make him more comfortable.

My cat had gastric lymphona . We went for steroid tablets. Was told she had about 6 weeks but lived for another 8 months before she died. She was 12 years old

Our cat had intestinal lymphoma - she actually had no reduced appetite or any change in behaviour, no weight loss. Her only symptom was vomiting and we were back and forth to the vet with that over about six months but they were never fussed because she was otherwise so "well". It was a massive shock when we were eventually referred out to a specialist vet hospital and they diagnosed her after a CT scan.

We were given chemo as an option, or steroids, and told even with top level (IV) chemo she would have 12 months as it was a massive tumour and the most aggressive type of lymphoma. As she found going to the vet very distressing, we opted to PTS. It was absolutely awful as she was only ten, but I couldn't bear the thought of her suffering in any way, and being in the position where we were essentially watching and waiting for her to go downhill.

If he has pancreatitis he will be in pain unfortunately. My old boy had pancreatitis 4 years ago - I nursed him through it, but with hindsight probably should have pts, and definitely will if it recurs.

Pancreatitis is incredibly painful. One of mine had it. She was young and survived. But I was expecting to PTS.in your case I would PTS now rather than later.

The vet said that while it's not easy to tell about pain and cats she didn't think he was in any pain with what he's got. I'll talk to her again. She was very frank. I just didn't ask her how long he'd got really.
