My daughter felt this on my cat and pulled it off near her tummy. Cat is very docile and let DD groom it off her with her fingers. We found another the other day too.
Cat has been acting completely normal zero sign of fleas or nasties. Up to date on flea and working as shown in the photo

Is it just dandruff/ moulting with it being spring? Cat is approx 2 a rescue who's been with us since November. Part of the family and a lovely temperament

IME it's a scab from a minor injury that has healed.

The thing I'm asking about is the (skin??/ beasty shell??) at the base of the hair. Shown on the flea treatment, dates to keep track! Click on photo to enlarge

Looks like a scab to me too.

AlexDrake72 · 13/03/2025 23:36

I think the same, a dried out scab that has come away with fur attached

Thank you

She has tried to make a few friends unsuccessfully! A lot of cats around here. Most are fine but one has been screaming at her! One day I saw her standing over her, my cat was lying down as if relaxing, later I realised her collar wasn't on! They must have been fighting but she didn't run away and I didn't see them fight! I chased the other cat off after I caught them together!

She's been neutered

She's so lovely, but a bit daft. She stayed in for 3 weeks when we got her, then let her out a bit at a time when hungry and calling her back.

She comes when called and isn't out for more than 30 mins/ an hour.

My previous cat was an inside cat/ sniff the back garden cat and didn't wander far at all

As others have said, I wouldn't worry unduly if there's no other issues.

However I would suggest you consider a better quality flea treatment, ideally one prescribed by your vet but otherwise take advice from somewhere like Pets At Home. In many areas fleas are developing a resistance to some flea treatments, and the fact that the Johnsons in your pic says it's for a very wide range of body weights suggests it isn't a very good one - the better flea & worm treatments are usually available in a range of sizes/strengths e.g. 1-4kg, 4-7kg, over 7kg so you can give the right safe and effective dosage for your cat.

OK so these would be a fair bit more expensive than the cheap off the shelf types available in supermarkets etc, but there's a good reason for that!

Yes agree about the flea treatment . You need to set up a plan direct from the vet .
