Miss koko the Russian blue says -I did not break in to a tub of butter, run off with it and cover my face in it, you're all lying 😂 thankfully it wasn't the lurpak at £7 a tub, decided to grab the tub, leg it up the stairs and face down plant in to it before I could grab it. What's the strangest thing your cat has taken?

My mum's Siamese came home with a cooked whole leg of pork likely from one of our neighbours 😳

Pianoaholic · 09/03/2025 19:49

My cat Herbie never stole the sweetcorn either....

One of mine once stole a raw broccoli floret out of a colander in the sink. Needless to say, she didn’t actually eat her ill-gotten gains!

shellyleppard · 09/03/2025 19:52

My elderly cat once stole the remainder of the roast beef joint that was cooling after dinner.....our crazy ginger pinched my partner's sandwiches by knocking his lunchbox off the worktop 🤣🤣🤣 i miss my crazy moggies

The late Maia would take the prove covers from the thermometers at work out of the bin. (I used to put them in my pocket) she would knock the bin over to get them out. Ditto plastic sweet wrappers. I could t believe she had the intelligence!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/03/2025 20:10

Our late cat would steal and eat mushrooms if he could. Mushrooms and blue cheese, the mentalist..!

ChompandaGrazia · 09/03/2025 20:17

My mum’s Siamese trotted home one day with a pheasant. ‘Splendid’ thought mum and hung it in the shed (times were hard and this was the country). 20 minutes later the same Siamese came back with the accompanying pheasant to make the brace, even better.
10 minutes later he trotted in with the box addresses to the brigadier who lived over the road……

years ago our cat used to steal flapjack.
She was stray we took in and generally stuck to cat food and outdoors.

Unless there was flapjack. Then she would jump up on the cooker and eat lumps out of it from the cooling rack.

My cat Herbie never stole the sweetcorn either....

My girl also loves to steal corn cobs! You find them under the bed or behind furniture months later 😂

GoFaster83 · 09/03/2025 20:23

Despite having a huge barrel of cat toys, my little beast stole a Brussel sprout and biffed it around the living room like a ball.

My old cat Link was a sucker for leftovers. I once batch cooked a curry in the slowcooker for work. Once cooked, I turned off the slow cooker and left it to cool while I went for a shower. I came back down to my white cat being orange and curry all over the side and floor. How he got the lid off I will never know.

He also broke into a leftover dominos pizza box (tandoori hot) and ate all the toppings, including the chilli's and cheese of it. All that remained were the base and a bit of sauce. I'm guessing he had ring sting for a week after that one!

My black and white short hair Maedel, ate the raspberry and coconut topping from an M&S loaf cake.
The weird thing was that she didn't leave even the tiniest bit of dessicated coconut.
If we hadn't known what type of cake it was, we'd have thought it was a plain madeira!

PineappleCoconut · 09/03/2025 20:28

Mine steals cat food pouches from seemingly all of our neighbours who haven't cottoned on to his thieving ways.
His fur balls and shits are extremely colourful and glittery. The vet keeps telling us off for his weight gain Blush

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/03/2025 20:29

Ours likes those little plastic vials of eyedrops (a bit like the things that came in Covid tests). He will steal them from the bathroom cabinet and bat them round the floor. They invariably end up under the cooker, and he will come and fetch one of us to lift it up so he can get it back. Here he is looking like butter wouldn’t melt (he’d eat it first).

He was really enjoying munching on it!

Ours brought home a tub of mushy peas last week. Then half a pie. He's also brought home spare ribs in the past Grin

There was that Christmas when we were having XMas dinner at Annie's (before my cats, and with her previous ones). Came out to the kitchen to find her boy cat licking the incredibly rich chocolate butter cream off the home made chocolate log with great gusto.

Luckily he'd started at one end so we managed to rescue most of it...

darksideofthemooncup · 09/03/2025 20:39

I had a cat that dragged half an Oakham tinned ham (with a fork embedded in it) up 3 flights of stairs, then went back to drag half a cucumber up and left them under my dressing table with lots of little bite marks out of both.

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/03/2025 20:46

One of my fosters was obsessed with my coconut scourer, to the extent that if I didn’t put it in a drawer straight after use it would end up on top of a cat tree or behind the sofa.

A friend couldn’t work out where her lip balms were going, until her DD spotted their cat with one & found his stash under a bush.

bifurCAT · 09/03/2025 20:51

Mine goes nuts for peanut butter and will literally headbutt a jar.

lorisparkle · 09/03/2025 20:56

We had a cat who liked the crusts off toast. He came home once with a piece of toast burnt on one side. We knew he must have stollen it from someone else's bin because we only used the toaster

Another cat dropped something dark brown on the floor it looked like either a lump of poo or a weird mini beast. However we discovered it was a burnt sausage. A couple of weeks later we were having a barbecue with our neighbours who said they had thrown a bit of burnt sausage in their garden.

When I was a teenager one of our cats at Christmas knocked a box of chocolates onto the floor and bit into each one.

Beamur · 09/03/2025 21:08

Mine have stolen crumpets and wraps from the counter.
Dipped their paws in cooling stock.
Knocked plastic tubs off worktops to get them open
They're hooligans

petermaddog · 09/03/2025 21:24

key lime yogurt hide it way from her,if i need to hide it if i leave the room
dog gets left over but i have to give pike his cut too

ghostyslovesheets · 09/03/2025 21:28

Mine have smashed many butter dishes!

my biggest thief is Bernard the ‘some moggy’ oriental cat - leg of chicken, whole pack of Red Leicester, anything you take your eye off and new boy Bobby who has stolen so much raw meat when I’ve literally turned my back for a second.

oddest - one cat used to bring me bread slices and we have had 2 frogs dumped, alive, in the water bowl

Diversion · 09/03/2025 21:35

One of our previous cats used to steal washing off the line, not just ours either and we had no idea how she actually did it. We used to find random socks and pants in the house. Another brought us a whole nest of baby shrews one by one, very sad as we were unable to save them.
