YuMOVE or ...?

Does anyone use YuMOVE or something similar for joint pain, and how effective is it?

The Stray is starting to become traumatised (and so are we) having to go to the vet every month for her Solensia and since she is only two we have many, oh so many, vet trips in our future.

To add to the problem she has a great sense of smell and taste, to the point we can only give her a third of a dose of Loxicom in stinky soup otherwise she refuses it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Mine has YuMove everyday along with Metacam - we add the former to his food and the latter we just squirt in his mouth.

Thanks. Do you think it would be "strong" enough by itself? Popping anything into her mouth would require catching - which she now associates with a road trip to a stabby place 😬

If she's on prescribed painkillers then probably not unfortunately - it's a supplement rather than a cure and wouldn't stop her from feeling pain.

Have you tried mixing medication in something like tuna or lick-e-lix?

ThePussy · 21/02/2025 07:38

Ours gets his Amodip, YouMove and laxative in a lick-e-lix. He will lap up anything in salmon flavour.

No to tuna, apparently it's poison.
No to lickelix as that is also poison (but might try again).
No to ham which was rather yummy until a wormer was hidden inside it and now that is also poison.

She is suspicious, anxious and rather clever (you have two chances and that's it) which is a really bad mix when you are a cat owner which needs meds.

I know she's on Solensia but watching her more closely i think she does still need something but i think we could get away with something less strong. It's a bit like giving her morphine when a paracetamol would do.

We do the monthly solensia injections at-home ourselves. He's also on a low dose of gabapentin (metacam not suitable because of kidney disease). The combo seems to manage his arthritis symptoms well.

Yumove really is only a supplement brought, I'm not convinced it provides much in the way of actual pain relief. My dog has it and just eats the tablets with his foodz they appear to be tasty.

YuMove is just a supplement though - it's really supposed to be used as a helping hand rather than as the solution, if that makes sense.

You could always add it on to what she already has but I wouldn't use it as a replacement for either the Solensia or the anti-inflammatory.

Pixiedust1234 · 21/02/2025 22:39

That's a shame but thank you everyone for responding.

The vet did offer to provide the Solensia for us to inject but that would involve having to catch and hold her down which is the biggest part of the stress. She also offered us some gabapentin for her next visit so hopefully that knocks Madam out enough.

Once again, thank you.

HEY @Pixiedust1234 !!! I hope this information is useful to you.

I have a 17 year old (female) cat who was struggling even to jump from the floor onto the couch, not even 2 feet, and she seemed to be struggling to walk some days. She would sometimes wince with pain. 😢 We took her to the vet after one and a half months or so of this happening, and she diagnosed her with arthritis.

She gave her yumove about eight weeks ago. And honestly, she's like a little bouncy spring lamb now. 🐑 She's jumping right onto the back of the couch now and right onto the dining table. 3 to 3 and a half feet in the air. And the other day she even jumped on top of the wheelie bin. (Nearly 4 feet up.) AND she jumped over our neighbour's 5 feet high fence yesterday. She has not done any of this for at least a year and a half to 2 years. She is whizzing around like she is half her age! The yumove started taking effect within 10-14 days! And no more wincing in pain

They are £31 a box, but there are 60 in each box, and you give them one a day, so it lasts 2 months, so it's worth 15 pound a month for your beautiful cat to not be in pain. Smile

It's easy to administer too. There's a little capsule full of powder that you open - and the powder falls out and you just tip it into the cat's food. It smells and tastes fishy. So it's useful to put it into food that is fishy (like salmon, tuna, herring, or white fish flavour cat food) - or actual tuna or salmon.

Makes sense to put anything fishy favoured in fishy flavour food. Smile

The best of luck to you, but I do recommend yumove ... My cat has got a new lease of life now. You can only get it from the vet though I think, so you may need to take your kitty in.

I notice some people are saying yumove is 'only a supplement' but so what? If it works, and it's improving your cat's health/helping her arthritis, stopping them wincing with pain, then surely it's worth a try?

(What's more, some injections for arthritis can have some pretty unpleasant side effects for your cat, including vomiting, loss of fur, and runny poo.) Probably makes them feel rough too!)

.

Thank you for your post @SabreIsMyFave . I hope your kitty continues to bounce around like a tigger for a long time🐯
