Rescue cat. Advice needed!!

Hi
I adopted a cat a few days ago and the advice the rescue gave me was to keep her in one one room, like a safe space for her which I have been doing. At night, she is in there with everything she needs. Last night she meowed loudly at 1am, this only went on for 5 minutes or so and she stopped. Then again it started at 3am, also loud banging against the door. But again this didn’t last long. I’d left her fresh water and dry food out and clean litter box. Am I doing the right thing not going down to her?

I'd let her out, sounds like she's decompressed already!

Personally I would give her a safe space but also give her the option to roam if she wishes. When I rescued my 2 they had a quiet space to go to but had free roam of the house if they wanted.

If it’s been a few days & you don’t have any other cats, it sounds like she’s ready to explore.

How old is she? The advice for a kitten who’s just left her mum & siblings might be different from that for an adult.

The meowing and banging at night are likely due to her adjusting to her new environment. It's good that you're not going to her right away, as it teaches her that meowing won’t get attention. Over time, she’ll likely settle down. How is she doing daily?

It sounds like she's ready to come out and explore.
Don't go down to her in the night though unless you want to do it every night...those are witching hours for cats.

I wouldn't go down to her but I also wouldn't be shutting her in one room all night either.

Thank you, tonight I will leave the door so she can roam
