Calcium Oxalate Veterinary Food recommendations

My cat has just had calcium bladder stones removed and i am desperately trying to amend her diet as recommended by my vet.

problem is she is soooooo picky. She will eat hills s/d urinary dry food but I was told to get her to eat wet rather than dry. So far tried and refused has been:
hills s/d urinary both flavours chicken and salmon
royal canin s/o sachets
Pro Plan Vet Diet UR Urinary both flavours chicken and salmon (this was the most successful but she will only eat a few chunks of meat and then refuses to eat anymore)

really just looking for recommendations I can try because I’m desperate to get her calcium levels down and do the right thing but all she wants is her Sheba or gourmet mon petit

Honestly try untamed, I feel like I’m their biggest supporter the amount I recommend it. It looks edible even to me it’s made with human grade meats the ‘chocka chicken’ is just hand shredded chicken in a gravy but not a thick brown gravy more like a meat jus. The trial pack of tins is only £8 and it’s fully complete

Our vet told us that if they won't eat urinary wet food, then just give them whatever wet food they will eat. I've had two cats with crystals over the years and urinary dry plus "regular" wet worked fine for them both.

this is reassuring to know. Especially as they have now said I should be doing a high fibre diet for her rather than urinary specific. I can then just give a few wet sachets as treats

Any wet is better than none
I use hills urinary dry and then Sheba wet

You could try a good quality grain free wet food and the urinary dry?

dementedpixie · 10/01/2025 23:48

I think you can get powders you can add to the wet food that help with urinary issues
