Alternative to buster collar

MrCat has been in a buster collar for nearly 3w for an eye problem. It's off now, but has left a bare patch on his neck. Even though we rotated the collar, and took it off every few days, one of the loops has rubbed away a 2cm patch of fur.

He'll have to have surgery on his eye very soon, so the collar will need to go on again. Is there a better alternative? The cute, flat, soft collars aren't suitable, as they won't stop him reaching his eyes.

Penelope has had loads of eye problems. I used this. For five minutes as she lost the ability to walk upstairs apparently. I didn't put anything on her, and she left her face alone.

The vet put this on for her second op. She was unimpressed!

A cat vest, my two are getting spayed next week and I’ve already told the vest to order them both surgical vest instead of a cone, the cone was £12 the vest is £20

A vest won't stop them getting to their eye.

OP the fur will grow back. It is more important that they don't touch the eye. If a soft one won't work, keep with the standard one.

The fur will grow back. I'm worried that if the collar rubs in that spot it will chaff directly on MrCat's skin and injure him.

@Toddlerteaplease, MrCat is 6.1kg and the buster collar has to come well past his ears!

You don’t need a cat vest just buy a babies long sleeved top from a charity shop. Depending on the size of the cat 0 to 3 months or 3 to 6 months.

And the minute we had our back turned while the collar was off, he scratched two of the stitches out!
