Rescue Cat Litter Tray Issues

Hi everyone I'm after some advice please.
I rescued an 8 month old tabby/bengal cross 4 weeks ago, he's a sweet little boy who hadn't had a lot of attention when I got him and is now getting used to playing with toys, climbing on his new cat tree etc. All good. He does have one problem though. He will use his litter try to have a wee but keeps doing a poo either in the bath or behind the tv! I've tried everything. Making sure his tray is spotless, encouraging him to go into his litter a little while after he's eaten, but no, the minute my back is turned he either poos in the bath or behind the tv! Any advise please on how I can break this cycle!

You could tr Feliway Classic spray (not the diffuser) - we have a new rescue who was showing signs of toileting in the wrong places. I gave everywhere a good squirt and he's been good as gold since. https://www.feliway.co.uk/products/feliway-classic-spray?variant=43700129923350

Thank you, I’ve got the diffuser but I’ll give the spray a go

Do you just have the one tray? Some cats like one for wees and one for poos. I would also suggest moving the poos to the tray just in case it is a lack of understanding. With rescue cats it's hard to know what their previous experience and habits have been.

For months after he started going outside my rescue cat went out in the morning, dug a hole for a poo, covered it up beautifully and then came inside to wee in his tray.
