Hyperthyroid cat and greasy fur

Looking for some advice please. My 17 year old cat has hyperthyroidism and has medication twice a day to manage the condition. She has regular vet checkups including bloods and all is going well. However since she's been on the medication her fur is very greasy, lots of dandruff and becomes matted easily. The vet doesn't seem concerned as all her other symptoms are under control but I wondered if anyone had any tips? I am brushing her daily which seems to help somewhat.

My cat is the same. I have to pull/cut her clumps out - try and stay on top of it daily. My vet also didn’t seem worried and I also found brushing didn’t help

Thank you that's made me feel a lot better

Have you had her teeth checked, in case it's a mouth issue so she's not grooming enough rather than anything to do with the medication? My 17 year old tabby developed hyperthyroidism a couple of years ago and isn't of the temperament where she could be given medication twice a day, especially if we happened to be away and somebody else was looking after the cats, so we went for the radioactive iodine treatment. She hasn't shown any signs of greasy fur since then.

Mine has lots of white flakes too! And the fur is really clumpy yes! No, brushing doesn't make a difference

He has hyperthyroidism and kidney disease

I just think it's a symptom of everything going on

Clumpy fur often means there's a dental issue - at least that's what happened to one of my old cats. If their mouths are sore they don't groom themselves properly.
