Poorly cat - any tips?

My cat is very much off it today.
I will book the vets first thing tomorrow. I don't think it warrants an emergency appointment, I've half been hoping he'll bounce back today and can get quiet purrs when I stroke him (though I realise this isn't always a sign of health)

He has lost his appetite and just very quiet and subdued, I can't tempt him to eat at all and haven't seen him drink but haven't been watching him all day. I popped him in the litter tray and he has done a wee.

He's young, only 2 and other than this a very healthy boy.

Im guessing as soon as we go to the vet it will be £500 of blood tests, anti inflammatory injections and antibiotics. He is insured but is there anything I can do to help him bounce back and avoid the stress of the vets for him?

Actually I've just seen him take a couple of sips of water. I think, though he looked at me as of to say 'I'm pretending to do this to get you off my back'

I wouldn't have thought being off his food for a day would warrant all those tests.
I had similar with my cat when he was young. Did take him to the vet and they said hr had a temperature. Gave medication to bring it down and an antibiotic as they suspected he might have got a tiny infected wound in the garden. He got better quickly, it wasn't anything like £500 though. Hope yours is better soon.

Vets now do a video vet service which I've used out of hours quite a few times - it's covered under some insurance policies but you can also pay as you go, means you can talk to a vet at home and I've found it very helpful.

Hope your kitty feels better soon - mine quite often go and end up with tablets or a jab, or sometimes metacam. They've only rarely had to have bloods done, and are 11 now, so fingers crossed your boy won't need anything too stressful! Just keep an eye on his weeing as if he's blocked with cystitis/crystals that can very quickly become an emergency for boy cats.

Try a beaten egg, that way he has had more nutrition than water.
hope gully vet will give an anti B & anti inflammatory and thatvwill do the trick.
