Purizon dry cat food question

TLDR: Is Purizon dry cat food supposed to be sticky and feel a bit damp or has it been ruined by Evri?

A bit of a long shot but worth a try.

Do any Mumsnetters feed their cats on this?

We've not bought it before but had a sample pack on Zooplus. The cats leapt on it and hoovered it up so I decided to get them a bag (they've been fussy buggers lately and I'm sick of them turning their noses up at just about all the old favourites).

However, it was sent by Evri and the parcel has spent the last two weeks ping ponging around their delivery system before turning up yesterday looking a little worse for wear.

It is obvious that it's got wet/damp and has been repackaged by Evri (misshapen box, all taped up and the items inside in a bag with a label stating a local town where Evri have a big warehouse and as far as I can make out, is not a Zooplus site). I'd also got some wet food sachets, which were mostly fine, but a few were torn.

However, I've opened the dry food and both the food and the plastic sack it was in feels damp and a bit 'sticky'. But as I've not had this food before I don't know if it's supposed to be like that because it's high meat/grain free/semi dry rather than the proper dry biscuit type we've had before.

Or is it because the package has got wet and it's all going to go mouldy on me and I'll have to throw it away. It's a big sack of food that will last weeks or more if it's stored properly but obviously not if it's got wet.

I've complained to Zooplus but not holding out much hope. I've complained about damaged sachets before and they'll refund you the value of what was damaged so not really worth bothering as its pennies for a sachet or two.

I'd much rather they use a decent carrier even if it meant charging a bit more but seeing as they sell a lot of brands that aren't available elsewhere, I just suck up the odd torn sachet, but not when it's a £45 sack of food that should last them for ages.

Could you decant into a big plastic container and see if it dries out any? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be more moist than other kibble

Yes, I feed my cat Purizon dry food from time to time, I've just ordered another bag. It is a bit 'tacky' in that there is a lot of sort of fatty dust on it. I wouldn't say it is moist though.

I find Zooplus brilliant if anything goes wrong. I would email them and tell them you believe the food has been ruined due to the lengthy delivery process. They would definitely not think a 14 day delivery process was acceptable.

Yes, I was thinking of doing this - we have big plastic tubs to keep the food bags in to protect them from claws damaging the bags so could pour it out into there.

I've emailed Zooplus and will see what they say.

Thanks for the replies
