I normally use a normal dish brush with a handle on it (it’s not then used for dishes obviously)

dh has thrown mine away so I gotta get a new one but wanted to see if anyone had one they can recommend

I don’t find I need to scrub it. If it ever needs extra I use a throw away cheap sponge

grumpypedestrian · 07/12/2024 19:38

I use cat litter tray liners so no need to clean the tray

natalieplusone · 07/12/2024 19:41

I use an antibacterial wipe with gloves on and scrub all the mess wity those then use wet kitchen towel to rinse it then dry kitcheb towel to dry it

rainbowsparkle28 · 07/12/2024 19:42

I only ever use kitchen roll and antibac spray I couldn't stand the idea of using of using a sponge or cloth 🤮

RoseDog · 07/12/2024 19:45

I line the tray with puppy pads, they keep the bottom of the tray cleanish, so just wipe with disinfectant and kitchen roll

TheFluffiestCat · 07/12/2024 19:47

I used to use an old dish brush and a bit of washing up liquid under the outside tap.

DanielaDressen · 07/12/2024 19:48

Kitchen roll and a throwaway scrubber sponge.

Soubriquet · 07/12/2024 19:49

Fair enough. Everyone has their own methods. I personally like using my scrubby brush. And at the end of the day, I give it a good clean and store it near the litter tray

I used to use (cats go outside now, but when they were kittens) a tray liner and then wiped the inside with a disinfectant wipe when changing it.

Litter tray liners and a newspaper before the litter goes in. Never have to clean the tray.

MarmaladeSideDown · 07/12/2024 19:57

Litter tray liners have never worked in this house, we have always had tray diggers.

For cleaning, we also use a washing-up brush (with CAT written on the handle in permanent marker), and for a really good scrub, it is usually the final job for the current sponge scourer in the kitchen.

RockingAmadeus · 07/12/2024 21:14

I use a small thin liner first that just covers the base of the litter tray and then the actual full size liner. I sprinkle a bit of litter freshener in before I put in wood litter chips. If it’s required I use an antibacterial wipe.

Washing up sponge with the green scourer on it, fairy liquid and hot water. Then dried with kitchen roll and a light spray of dettox. That sponge lives in the bathroom cupboard. Our normal washing up sponge or the house cleaning sponge doesn't have the green scourer on it so it never gets mixed up.

I use a finished with washing up sponge.

To everyone using liners/newspaper, does you cat not scratch it & make holes in it?

Bignanna · 07/12/2024 21:32

Hopefully not the husband’s toothbrush!

The main liners (Pettiny Scratch Resistant) I use are extremely thick and very rarely get shredded. If that does happen I’ve always got the thin liner underneath.

Thank you, I’ll look into those. I seem to spend so much time cleaning.

I order them from Amazon and they definitely make life easier. I use them for a 10.5kg Maine Coon. I would highly recommend them.

I just use bleach and a Jcloth I don’t find I need to scrub it.

AnnaMagnani · 08/12/2024 10:22

I get DH to do it.

I understand he uses anti-bac wipes but TBH I don't care what he does, as long as I don't have to.
