What would you call two girls?

We are about to adopt two beautiful grey tabby sisters from a local rescue. What should we call them??

DD wants to name them Elphie and Glinda (from Wicked) but DS and DH aren't keen!

So hit me with your name suggestions for a pair of female cats please 🙂

Here they are!

Some great suggestions so far, thank you. DH likes Janet and Rita, DS likes maple and bacon. DD is still firmly team Wicked but also quite likes Betty and Ines (I do too!). I also quite like Holly and Ivy, but I don't know if it's the 'one'.

Your DH is clearly a man of taste 😜

I love matchy names. All of my many cats have flower names. The two youngest are Magnolia (girl) and Oleander (boy).

The trouble with matchy names (as we found out with our many guinea pigs over the years) is that you end up starting with Bubble & Squeak, then one dies, and you get two more which you name Gin and Tonic, and one of them dies, so you end up with Squeak and Gin.

Mine were Ruby and Millie. Named after a make up brand back in the day.

Elphie and Glinda . Fabulous! 😻😻

TheGirlattheBack · 06/12/2024 00:16

Dotty and Smudge

I wouldn't do matchy names - I know a lot of people who have and then they end up with random combos as one of the original pair has died (sorry to be morbid!).

I am a big fan of giving cats a name that can be shortened so you can give them their 'full' name when they are naughty, for instance we had a black cat who's day to day name was Bob who we would call Robert when he was being a cheeky wee sod 😂. So on that basis alone I like Elphie and Glinda because Elphaba and Galinda as full names is fantastic. I also like to give them made up middle names that change as well for telling off purposes. I'm easily amused.

Wigglypasta · 06/12/2024 07:42

Maud and Mildred

OrsolaRosso · 06/12/2024 07:42

Perhaps the DC can name one each? So Elphie and Maple 😊

Blinkinintothesun · 06/12/2024 07:48

I love elphie and Glinda - the only thing is when names date - our elderly rabbits are called Anna and Elsa and my now teenage girls wish we had called them something else !
