He should be getting checkups at least once per year anyway. At the checkup, the vet will examine his teeth.

You don't have a prayer of looking inside his mouth to examine them yourself and you wouldn't know what to look for anyway.

i dont have insurance we dont have pdsa near us and the rspca vet we had within driving distance went private .All i can do is get a quote and start saving

How old is your cat? I'd shop around online for an insurance quote and take out a policy today if possible. You can pay monthly rather than having to fund the year upfront. That's basically like saving up for vet treatment, except your money will go a lot further when you need it to. If your cat is elderly or has diagnosed health problems it may be too expensive to get coverage, but for most cats and their owners it works out a lot cheaper to be insured against unpleasant surprises.

You really should take him before Christmas. Maybe put treatment on a no-interest credit card or something? That way you can put what you would save towards paying for it but have the work done but your cat isn't in pain for two months.

Our cat has just had to go to the cat dentist, to have his teeth deep cleaned as he had a build up of plaque and gingivitis. It cost £400, no teeth needed removing.
