Cat vomit. When to worry?

Might be a one off! My cats not one to cough things up. Rarley gets a hair ball. Just walked into a room and the smell hit me. I thought it was poo. But it was vomit. But more like h digested food. (Katkin) which explains the smell! It's the 1st and only time
Drinking normally and acting normally.

Is is possible to be a one off? It's hours since she ate, which is what has confused me. As its not like it was straight after eating!

Thank you

I think all cats occasionally vomit now and again.

I wouldn't worry about one episode of vomiting, as long as the cat is still eating and drinking and seems otherwise well.

Is there any diarrhoea or constipation?

All good on that front! Ok I shall just keep an eye for now! Possibly us a fur ball. It was a funny consistency

Mine vomit all the time. Sometimes just because they've eaten too fast. I'm sure it's fine

@WhatMe123
If you’ve not already got elevated bowls for your cats, it really cuts down on regurgitation (when they throw up right after eating - it’s distinct from vomiting & as you say, typically caused by eating too fast, but also tends to be aggravated by the angle at which they’re eating). Mine have these bowls as my black cat was becoming very prone to regurgitating his food.

@Adviceneeeeded
Trying to bring up a hairball & accidentally bringing up food with it is definitely a thing - if she otherwise seems ok & doesn’t vomit again I’d not be too worried. Maybe have a wee read of the Cats Protection guide to catsick (for some reason not what they titled it…) to help reassure you).

If she's only ever puked up once (and it'll be almost certainly due to being a bit of a greedy guts on top of a fur ball), there's only one time when you need to start to worry.

2.56am as the sound starts directly above your head.

You are very welcome - glad that things/feline stomachs seem settled today 😸
