Cat proof garden

I’ve recently rescued two kittens one of which is partially sighted in one eye and blind in the other but managed fine with the help of the other kitten. Because of her eye sight she can’t be let out to wander, so I thought cat proofing the garden with 6ft fence and those cat proof topper but I’ve just been quoted 3.5k 😬 is this a reasonable quote? The garden is only 77ft long and 50ft wide so not huge!

Has anyone cat proofed their garden with success and for a lot less money, I only budget £1k is this doable?

I have no idea, but saw the title of your thread and am intrigued.

What height of fence do you have currently - that's if the garden is currently fenced.

I guess you have 2 costs, the first is 6' fencing and the second being the cat proofing.

I suppose I would get at least 3 quotes for the fencing first as there are more fencing companies than there are cat proofing companies.

It’s a 5ft fence and the apparently to cat proof you need 6ft.

This is cat proof topper I’ve seen, the quote included installation but with me buying the fence topper. It’s a hinge system that drops your cat back to the floor.purrfectfence.co.uk/

ok, so you actually only need to add 1' to your existing fence ?

what about putting a trellice on your fence, then the cat proof topper ?
could that work - would a trellice ( which I can't spell ) be substantial enough to hold the cat proof topper ?

would kitty fit through the gaps in a trellice ? if so maybe you would need to fill in the trellice somehow ?

it does seem a shame to have to remove a perfectly good 5' fence to replace it with a 6' one, but yes I too believe it needs to be 6'

I just Googled, and the 1st company to come up is
https://sanctuarysos.com/services/cat-fencing/cat-fencing-extension/

you can get a free quote for the above, and see if that may work out less expensive ?

just a thought / hope.

Thank you everyone! Not sure the trellis would work as think they could maybe squeeze through the gaps. I’ll have a read about those cat rollers seems like a much cheaper option

yes I guess you would need to chicken wire a trellis and it will start to look untidy.
