LittleBeast chewing clumps out of himself

I've previously asked for advice re LittleBeast chewing himself to bits. Previously, had anti inflammatories and steroids from the Vets which didn't help - had to stick on a cone of shame. He only goes into the garden when supervised. We have been told there's no point in trying to fathom if it's an allergy - because the range is vast. He first ripped his face to bits, then underneath his left back leg and he's now chewed into his front left 'armpit'. It will obviously be another trip to the vets but appreciate any tips re topical treatments etc., he just licks Sudacrem off.

He's a Bengal - Rescue but very relaxed and cuddly, to me.

Natural aloe Vera? Straight from the plant. Tastes flipping horrible

Could you try a hypoallergenic cat food?

MrsCatE · 23/10/2024 04:01

Thank you @EighteenOhFive that sounds really interesting and will investigate!

How often do you de flea?

coffeesaveslives · 23/10/2024 06:56

Stress? Bengals often like to roam for miles, not be confined to a garden under supervision.

buffyfaithspike · 23/10/2024 22:21

antihistamines?
Also chicken is weirdly quite a big allergy to a lot of cats so might be worth trying a different flavour if he's on chicken

Thanks all. Deflea as recommended and he's not perturbed by that. Annual vets check up is next month. I would never let him out by himself - he's an indoor cat; doesn't yowl to go out - but practically shrugs himself into his harness when offered - which we do on dry days. He'll do an immediate turnaround at the first threat of rain!

Mine over groomed just the same as yours and like yours, never showed signs of wanting "out".

However the vet recommended we try it and as soon as we did, the behaviour stopped.

Cats show stress in very odd ways sometimes - if you don't want him to roam then free access to a cat-proofed garden would be a good compromise - bengals are really not designed to live indoors.
