Ignored scratching at door, feel bad 😩

Was woken in the night by the lord moewing at the bedroom door & scratching. Ignored him as he's not allowed in whilst sleeping (mainly as he's a giant & takes up all the room in a king bed!) Anyhow, woke up this morning to find he'd been sick (a lot!) I feel so bad, he was obviously trying to ask to go out 😩

My punishment was finding it by standing in it...but I feel awful! I've apologised to the furry lord, but he didn't seem to care for my apology, just demanded dreamies!

Will I be on the bad cat mum list now?!

(My partner thinks I'm silly for feeling bad, so validate me other cat slaves! Lol)

Well at least he wasn't sick on your bed!

WonderingWanda · 19/10/2024 11:06

I'm impressed that your cat asked to go out when feeling sick. Mine just seeks out the least easy to clean surface in the house (full of nice easy to wipe hard floors) and vomits over that instead. Think deep pile rug, child's Teddy bear, fabric sofa etc.

Yes. Mine does this too.

Ohhhhh the super fluffy rug.....

I shut mine in the kitchen at night so they can’t scratch at my door. They once bought me a live rabbit at 3am, since then they are banished overnight.

I was very impressed with Penelope the other day, when she jumped off the bed and puked on the floor instead and missed the fluffy rug.

That's pretty kind. My friends cat bought her a dead rat and stuffed it away in the kitchen so she had to let it naturally rot

Dancingfairydreams · 19/10/2024 16:21

Ahh yes, of course I didn't think that I may have actually had a lucky escape & finding it after was way better then being on the bed!

I feel less guilty now lol

He's probably done it as punishment for not letting him in.

I was just going to say this!

My cat has done this before when being shut out the bedroom, or sometimes if you get home with loads of shopping to put away and don’t fuss her immediately, she can look us dead in the eye and then vomit. Honestly believe she does it for attention 🤣

WildCherryBlossom · 19/10/2024 20:53

Rh? @JamDonutAddict I don't get this : "had to let it naturally rot". Was it somewhere completely inaccessible?

There is nowhere in my house I wouldn't be prepared to take out whatever was needed in order not to have a rotting rabbit (or anything else)

Yes - it's the second time I've heard of this (a friends parents once had similar). She literally couldn't use her kitchen for several weeks.

Trust me, my friend would have removed that rat if there was ANY way possible 🤢

Currently my tumble dryer smells of dead mouse when I put it on, after pulling it out, cleaning every bit I can get to and running it with a white vinegar soaked towel to no improvement I’ve ordered a new one. If I felt I could live without it for a month or so I’d banish it to the garage and wait it out, but it’s quite old and I got it for free so I’m just going with the easy option.

Wish I knew how to stop the bloody cats bringing in mice.

SoupDragon · 20/10/2024 23:15

I also think he deliberately threw up because you wouldn't let him in.

I have also had the joy of discovering cat vomit with my feet. Thankfully (I think?) in socks.

Singleandproud · 20/10/2024 23:18

He wasn't knocking to go out, he was knocking to come in and vomit over your bed (probably).

A live rabbit, I bet that was fun 🙈

I’m still scarred by it! All I found was a gray haired thing behind a plant pot, no idea if it was a rabbit or rat, dh was sleeping in the spare room as I had covid (March 2020), bless him he came to my rescue, put the thing in a pot and only found out it was a rabbit when he released it outside. The cats like company when having a snack we think, they’d bought dead prey before. They’ve not been allowed beyond the kitchen overnight since.
