Poorly cat 5 days after spaying?

Dcat (6 maths) was spayed last Wednesday , all went well and she was discharged with pain meds. We took her back for a post op check on Friday and she was given a shot of antibiotics as she was running a temperature. Been fine up till today, eating normally and using the litter tray although was a bit quiet last night. Only thing strange is she's been licking the top of her hind leg on the side of the incision to the point where the fur is constantly wet.

Picked her up this morning and she screamed. Refused her food and hasn't used her litter tray. Top of her leg looks swollen and I have her booked in with the vet at evening surgery. Incision has healed well and she's not bothering it at all. Will not let me touch the top of her leg without crying out and trying to bite me and is currently hiding out in her igloo. Her sister was spayed the same day and as far as she's concerned nothing happened!

Any ideas of what might be going on? Feeling rather helpless at the moment 😔

How did it go at the vet yesterday evening and how is she this morning?

Thankyou for asking - she's running a high temperature and at this stage they are considering she has an abscess internally behind the top of her leg.

We've got antibiotics twice a day for the next 7 days and loxicom for a week as well. Follow up appointment tomorrow to see if she's improved.

She seems a lot more comfortable this morning and has eaten a little but still not used her tray. Just sleeping loads which I assume is as a result of both the painkiller and fighting the infection.

She's one of 2 girls I hand reared after mum was killed on the road when them were around 3 weeks old so she's a fighter so hopefully she will come through this 🤞

Oh poor DC hope the meds kick in and she feels much better swiftly.

lots of TLC I’m sure will help too.

Fingers crossed she continues to improve.
