The best hairball remedies?

Me again! If your cat is prone to hairballs, please can I ask what you have used to control it? I have googled it but so many things come up that I want to just hear from people who have actually tried and tested things and know what works.

He is a long haired cat and I do try to groom him as and when I can, but he is a rescue and does not really trust anyone (even me fully), and is very scared of a lot of things. He does not like me touching him anywhere other than his head, back and tail. I can’t get to his belly or do the fluff at the back of his legs. Even me just touching the hair there with my hand gets him very stressed. If I went near his belly he will lash out at me. I tried a professional groomer but she couldn’t complete the job.

Could anyone give me any tips on grooming and also let me know which hair ball food or pastes really work and are the best ones?

I have a similar problem - long haired cat who hates being groomed. In the last few weeks I have started using some Hairball relief treats (VETIQ brand - Healthy Bites Hairball Relief treats) I bought on Amazon. He woofs them down and seems to enjoy them, but its only been about three weeks so I'm not sure if its doing the trick yet. Usually he sicks up a big hairball (often on one of our beds arghhhh) about once a month, so I will let you know in a few weeks if there has been a difference!

Our cat is an overgroomer and often chucked up a hairball daily . We use Gim cat paste and the above recommended VETIQ hairball treats , but what changed it to only an occasional one , was changing the food to Katkins .

Is Katkin raw food?

@User292 No it's cooked lightly , pouched then frozen so essentially fresh .
They are always sending out codes for friends and family which I think gives you 50% off ( or something like that ) let me check !

Yes we both get 50% off.
Send me a message if interested.

Update on using the VETIQ hairball treats...cat has sicked up about three hairballs over the space of the last couple of days (luckily all in the garden and not on beds!!). So that means he's sicking up hairballs about once every six weeks, which is about the same kind of frequency he was doing them before I started using the treats. So I conclude that they haven't made that much difference. I am going to try the Gim paste that a PP has recommended and hope it improves things.
