Best food for Ragdoll kitten

Hello everyone. My eldest daughter recently moved out of home and bought her first flat. Now that she's all settled, her mind has turned to getting a pet. She will be a wonderful owner.
Her first ever pet was a Ragdoll and she loved him dearly. So she's fixed on getting one of those. She is going to see some Ragdoll kittens at the breeder's home on Sunday (don't worry, she knows all the things to look out for and all the right questions to ask). She has enquired in advance about the food they're on and it's Royal Canin. I'm fairly certain that this is a mediocre food, though it could have changed in recent years, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Obviously it has to be a phased introduction to new foods, but is there anything better she could be giving him ... that's preferably not too much more expensive?
As an aside, I'm so excited for her. She has autism and has been feeling lonely since moving out. She's animal crazy and the time is right Smile
Thanks for your thoughts.

Royal canin do breed specific food. My Persians did really well on the Persian one. Only swapped as the late Cheddar could t tolerate it.

Thanks very much. I suspect that's adult only though.

Going from experience, I wouldn't try and decide yet - all cats are different and like different things, and they're almost guaranteed to hate something that you've spent ages deciding to buy Grin

We've had six cats over the years and they've all liked totally different things in terms of flavour, texture and quality.

Zooplus is a great website as it has a lot of variety and they often sell sample packs too.

Thank you all Smile

My Ragdoll has a very sensitive stomach and got diarrhoea from all of the (many) wet foods we tried. We've ultimately found that the Royal Canin Digestive Care biscuits are the only thing which don't upset his stomach. Topped up occasionally with some boiled chicken breast as a treat to give a bit of variety. Hopefully you won't have the same issue but sharing in case it's helpful.

Ragdoll’s are well known for digestive upsets and IBD etc. Royal Canin is not a good food at all, it’s only so popular because they pay for vets to promote it in the form of sponsorship. However any changes to the food need to be done very very slowly or you risk an unwell kitten, particularly with Ragdoll’s.

Thank you. Is there one you'd recommend trying?
