Cat weeing in house - losing my mind

Hello, hoping someone can help because I'm going mad with this. My domestic short hair cat has started weeing in the carpet in the house. In the same area. I've had him 6.5 years, he was a rescue but is probably about 11 years old. He always refused to go outside so he's been an inside cat with me. I've moved house twice with him, the most recent one 6 months ago. I've tried so far:

  • extra litter tray where he wees
  • putting food and drink where he wees
  • feliway plug ins and pet remedy plug ins
  • cleaning carpet with carpet cleaner machine and urine rug doctor solution
  • cleaning carpet with simple solution spray
  • cleaning carpet with nature's miracle urine remover spray
  • cleaning carpet with diluted white spirit
  • cystease capsules in his food I took him to the vet, they said maybe UTI but couldn't get a urine sample so gave him a wee of antibiotics and some stuff to help with bladder inflammation. Cat always poos in litter tray. He seems curious about going out the front of the house but I'm worried to let him out now he's not been out so long. Where he is weeing is near the front door, is it in protest?? Help 😢😢😢

If he had uti probably now associates peeing in lit tray with pain.
Marking near front door could be territorial.
Has he seen local cats through window ?
Maybe that's stressing him out x

Yep other cats about and very barky dog next door whereas before we were in a high rise flat so he didn't see any other animals. I just don't know what to do, I can't live in a house that stinks of cat wee

my cats have stomach issues i had to get rid of any carpet and my sofa is leather =/

Unfortunately once they choose something they like to pee on its impossible to stop

Let him outside. His marking at the door is because he thinks it's his territory.

@sunsetsandboardwalks okay I'll need to get a cat flap put in the back door then.

One of mine did exactly the same and the vet basically said "he's telling you he needs to be out" - so out he went and we've had zero issues since.

Oh really. That's interesting. Had he been a house cat for long? I'd feel so guilty if he got run over having not been out for at least 6 years
