I 110% am. It's like reverse separation anxiety 😂my boy has just been let out after moving home and this is the first morning he wandered off and didn't come back before I left, so I'm just sitting at my desk stressing all day.

He's got elbow dysplasia and isn't meant to jump too high, so I built things in the walled garden to break his jumps up. He's not using them so I'll just stress about that all day too.

No. The reason I have cats is that they're supposed to be a low maintenance pet.

I have enough to worry about with the DC.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2024 09:46

Yes. But only because I've had so many issues with mine.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2024 09:47

My parents are all over their boy. The slightest sniffle and he's at the vet. They were never like this with our childhood cats.

Same! I literally spend my day fretting about his elbow 😅

Yes! One of mine went missing for two weeks once, he was injured and I only found him by sheer luck after searching for him every waking hour. As a result I'm pretty paranoid about him or his sister going missing again.

They both have reflective safety collars with AirTags, plus I have a cat cam and the Sureflap microchip cat flap with the hub so I can see on the app if they're in or out while I'm out of the house. They previously had GPS trackers but kept losing them, hence the AirTags.

I would really prefer it if they were indoor cats or could have a catio, but they're both super active and require a lot of stimulation and I just can't see them being happy with that.

Yes. His every wish is my command. I worry about him constantly.

3LittlePiggs · 24/09/2024 10:06

Yes, a bit as she's so clingy. I'm away at the moment and she hides from the catsitter, so I'm keen to get back.

I didn't imagine I'd be like this before getting a cat, but she's not very independent.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2024 10:07

It's why I have indoor cats. I couldn't cope with them being out in the big wide world.

Potentialmadcatlady · 24/09/2024 10:08

My cats are all rescues with various health conditions so the garden is cat proofed so they can’t escape.

sunsetsandboardwalks · 24/09/2024 11:23

No, mine pretty much fend for themselves.

They're in at night but otherwise they do what they like. The youngest is mostly in, but likes the odd wander in the garden, the oldest likes to sunbathe next door but otherwise is in, and the middle is mostly out roaming unless it's raining.

Am I ever! Elton's feeling poorly today and I've already booked in a call with the vet this afternoon. I check his poo consistency and generally hover over him to an embarrassing degree which is why a lot of the time he prefers to hang out with my husband!

Were they like it with their children? 😃

Mines old so she’s got me over a barrel really. One slip up and she’ll die to spite me.

Our late Bengal Asbo was much worried about & rightly so.

It's why I have indoor cats. I couldn't cope with them being out in the big wide world.

I remember when Felix managed to get through a gap in the old edge at the bottom of the garden. He'd managed to get through about a week before. I'd nipped out but left him in the garden thinking he'd be ok cos he'd never bothered leaving before. Got back and went to call him back in. Couldn't see him but he liked to hide down the back of the garage. Went out to check and he wasn't there, but I could hear him miaowing each time I called his name. The first time he did it I don't think he realised he could get back over. In the end he he managed to find a way into next doors garden and I hauled his arse back over into my garden. After that I thought I'd managed to patch the gap up, but he managed to find another gap. I was practically hyperventilating and was convinced he'd wonder too far up the garden opposite and end up on the road. I spent ages calling his name hoping I'd hear him miaow so I knew he was ok but didn't hear anything. He came back about 4 hours later standing at my patio doors looking non plussed and wondering why I wasn't standing there with a bowl of food. He was grounded after that! Although I did take him outside on the morning of when he was pts so he could enjoy the garden one last time before I took him to the Vets. He spent a bit of time chomping on some grass and then just laid in the sunshine for bit and drank a bit of milk.

This!

Selttan · 09/10/2024 05:34

Yes!!! When I first adopted them I swear we were at the vet every time one of them sneezed. 5 years later we are down to an annual check up.

My girls are indoors only and I've cat proofed the stairs with netting, the balcony, got rid of my candles & essential oils. My neighbours thought I had kids cause they'd hear me yelling 'no running inside' (they were running on a high ledge) and 'gentle, gentle'.

sashh · 09/10/2024 05:53

I am at the moment.

Mine was missing for 2 days and traced via her microchip.

She is normally very vocal but has been quiet and her breathing was a bit off, so she's seen the usual vet, she is now on a couple of medications and I'm totally helicoptering.

CurlewKate · 09/10/2024 09:24

I can't be. I have a wanderer. We just have to accept that she comes and goes. We think she is a secret agent who is sent on missions of varying lengths and just thank her for her service on her return.
