Just bought a brand new sofa and had it assembled last night

Kicking myself for changing the colour last minute, I originally wanted cream but had my mind up after hearing someone’s opinion

I have two tabby cats with lots of white fur
What do I do?

Should I buy new covers and sell this one if I manage to clean it?

Or should I buy a small vaccum and clean it every 5 minutes??

Get a Furminator, it makes a huge difference.

That assumes your cat will tolerate grooming - mine take one look at anything like a brush or grooming glove & flee into the darkest recesses of the wardrobe or under the bed.

I've just ordered a deep blue velvet sofa cover. I have a white cat. Might just cut out the middle man and hoover the cat.

Assuming that you already have a brush for the cats?

I do have a few but thought they were recommending be a high end one that I haven’t heard about

At least the fluff from their backs and tails won't show up too much.

I have black cats and a blue sofa in the conservatory. I'm off to buy a rubber brush.

Btw - I like your sofa and cushions. And your cats (obviously).

viques · 21/09/2024 13:45

Also get a furminator brush and groom the cat, amazing how much hair comes off, even in a short haired cat, with a fluffy one like that you will be spinning your own cat wool in no time.

I've ordered a velvet emerald green one... its coming in August. What have I done 😩

I’m guessing you don’t mean August but if you do, you have time to change it?!

No I meant October! It did say once ordered it couldn't be cancelled. But I really love the sofa!

Do you have a rubber squeegee that you use for windows/shower screens? That can get it up easily. Then get a cream throw.

My cat hated all brushes including the expensive furminator. The one she loved (and turned over to present other side) was a cheap rabbit brush. Two quid and small enough to get into those fuzzy little armpits.

Sofa 🀣 although sometimes I wish I could just cut out the middle man and use it straight on the cat

I thought it was for the cat!πŸ™€

I suppose you can’t just dye your cat Emerald green?

And if you're unsure what to do with it, the magic of the Internet cookies, AI or whatever it is that does these things has just suggested this on my FB

Congratulate yourself on not making the mistake of a cream sofa.

You know deep inside that your cats would have a) shed all of their dark fur on it and b) puked up the most luminous orange nastiness over the thing had you bought one.

spikeandbuffy · 21/09/2024 15:03

I have one of these, you just roll it back and forward and it collects the hair. Magic

@bitesthedust it’s for the sofa or floors. Were new to the dog world and have found the rubber brushes invaluable.

Oh dear πŸ˜‚

I feel your pain - throws are the only way to go really. Either that, or get the cats used to being hoovered.

This guy is a game changer - our dear departed girl was white and longish haired, and this was a match for her. It’s so satisfying to empty too. (She was brushed regularly but it was a losing game, she really was the hairiest short haired cat in the entire world.)

Our new boy is ginger and loves being brushed as much as he loves Dreamies. As soon as we load the dishwasher after our dinner he shouts until I brush him. The Steamery brush is pleased to be in less heavy use.
