Recommend a cat tree?

Going to visit a cat in foster tonight with a view to adopting. We’ve also enquired about a second cat with the same rescue, to be a companion. Hopefully they will get on 😬. The rescue has said they should do, and I believe they’ve both lived with other cats in foster.

Anyway. We’ll need to keep them in separate rooms for a while and introduce them slowly. So I’d like to get them a cat tree each to make their confinement less boring. Any recommendations for ones that your cats actually like and use? I’ve always been a bit sceptical of the things, and dear departed old lady cat would have just rolled her eyes at one. And probably vomited on it just to ram home the point.

My cats love their cat trees. We’ve got a large one with multi levels, scratching posts etc and platforms to sleep on. Plus a smaller one which is also well used by them. I’m looking to replace the larger one as it’s looking a bit tired now. RHR is a good brand I believe for larger cats (we have a young Maine Coon). But there are plenty to choose from on Amazon. I’d definitely recommend getting them a cat tree!

Thank you. I’ll look up RHR.

Wow. Can’t believe how much it’s possible to spend on a cat tree. I’ve been down a total cat tree rabbit hole, and now I have no idea if I need a tall one, a squat one, one with bits hanging off it, a hammock, sisal clad legs or rustic wooden legs. I could spend thirty quid or nigh on a thousand. 🤯

I have this one which my cat really likes
He's nearly 7kg and it's absolutely solid with him on it

We’ve got 3 cats and a 6ft cat tree, they have a choice of six different platforms to sleep on! The brand is Feandrea.

Personally I wouldn't spend a fortune until you know whether your cats will even use one. We have three cats but one never uses it so it he was a solo, we'd not have bothered iyswim.

I used to keep the ironing pile on mine.

  • Generally, ironing likes a waist-high cat tree, with a good square platform and no dangly bits.
  • You can also use it for washing, in which case get one with cubby holes for losing socks in.
  • The cats will sleep in the box and chew the packaging.

This is why I’ve never bothered with cat trees in the past.

I think I’m just getting my nesting head on for the new arrivals!

My cats love their cat trees. They have a big 6 foot one that I got off Amazon and a 5 foot one, which came with one of said cats when I rescued her so I don’t know the brand! I’d just get a cheap ish one from Amazon in case they don’t like it though!

I have four cats and several cat trees and they love them. The trees need to be in the right place - by a window so they can look out and sunbathe in any sun. If it's also by a radiator all the better!

I have bought a couple of Feandra cat trees from Amazon which were quite good, but I mainly buy from Zooplus which has a whole range of types/prices.
