Could she be pregnant

Our female inside cat got out a couple of times in the summer. The children left the window open and she bolted. She is very very quick.

Before anyone comes at me - she is on the waiting list to be spayed because the vets around here are so full. Which is why she is still an indoor cat.

Anyway! This morning my daughter said the cat was feeling "fatter" which immediately concerned me because she has always been so slight, even with eating everything in sight.

I had a gentle feel and she does seem a bit rounder and her nipples feel different.

She is not the most easily manoeuvrable cat so these are the best pictures I could get. She absolutely adores snuggles but doesn't like being picked up so it's hard to get a picture of her stomach unless you want to be clawed.

How old is she? Was she in heat when she got out?

I'm not an expert but I do think there is a chance she is pregnant.

Always a possibility

Are you able to support her and the kittens (if she is pregnant)

TomatoSandwiches · 07/09/2024 01:08

No one can tell you from pictures if she's pregnant and it sounds like she very possibly could be. You need to take her to the vets ASAP, they can still perform a spay if she is.

kittyycatt · 07/09/2024 01:29

@Gingerkittykat She is 2.

@PoopedAndScooped Thankfully yes, we can support her if she is. I also have family who would like kittens so I could easily find them loving homes.

@Gingerkittykat I don't believe she was in heat when she got out! She hadn't been doing her usual.

@TomatoSandwiches I didn't even think of that!! It's been a long week! I even went to the vets earlier today! I will give them a ring when they are next open.

If you've had her since a kitten and she is now 2 then I'm sorry that I don't believe she hasn't been spayed because that vets have been fully booked up for 18+ months.

kittyycatt · 07/09/2024 13:24

@TroysMammy This was an email i received back from my email following up on the clinics! I got that email 3 months ago. We have to use that particular vet as we got a voucher for her, that specific vet already had a wait list and they said we were quite far down it months ago!

The vets in our area are harder to come by than an NHS dentist! We have 2 surgerys and they only have 1 vet in each, but that 1 vet also goes to different places. If you're lucky enough to get an appointment, it's usually cancelled.

So yes, it is very annoying but also very true. I stopped into the vet yesterday about wanting to change our dogs flea stuff, the soonest 5 minute appointment she could off was the end of October! I was in there longer talking to the receptionist than I will be talking to the vet!

Do you know if she's pregnant yet?
