What is this cat??

I rehomed this cat as an 8 week old farm kitten (saw him with his brothers/sisters) . He was feral!! He has settled in well, loves his home. He has been neutered and chipped by me since coming home. BUT whilst I know he’s a feral farm cat… he’s definitely got Siamese in him hasn’t he? He’s VERY vocal, much like a Siamese! But I know he came from a farm, mum was a feral farm cat. So surely theres no way he could be part Siamese?

What is this cat??

Yes, Siamese. Potentially a cross, or Ragdoll x domestic short hair?

Milliways · 23/08/2024 21:44

Aw, he looks like ours that are cross Siamese/ragdolls. Enjoy!

Allergictoironing · 23/08/2024 21:47

Or possibly Burmese? Looks pretty similar to DBro's Burmese...

After a particularly shitty time, he’s a very welcome addition! I just feel like I’m him doing him some kind of injustice when I have registered him as a feral farm cat! - that’s exactly what he is I know! He is ace (although a psycho after he’s eaten and will chase the shit out of anyone who dares move and bite them til they bleed 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣)

Insurance should be cheaper for a farm moggy than for an exotic breed 😀

Dad must be an aristocratic Siamese who was slumming it in the farmyard…

BiscuityBoyle · 24/08/2024 13:49

We had a Siamese growing up. He sounded like a crying baby!

Judging by most men… this is quite possible!

He's beautiful OP, may you both be happy together for many years

Rustytoasty · 24/08/2024 23:34

Seal point Burmese / Siamese I would guess.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/08/2024 23:36

He's definitely got the Himalayan gene, which causes the distinctive colouration in Siamese cats and other breeds (and other animals eg rabbits) . It's a recessive gene which means both of his parents carried it! I don't know how often this crops up in the moggy gene pool, possibly there's been a bit of inbreeding.

It really is quite an interesting phenomenon!

He's a colourpoint so he could have got the colour from a number of breeds, colourpoint ferals are more common in America but I haven't seen any in the UK, he's a little cutie. I breed ragdolls and funnily the seal points I've had (the colour of your little guy) are far more chatty than the other colours, just like siamese are known to be.
