No, they probably don't need a companion.

They can love as much as dogs - but they can take longer to warm up.

Never force yourself on a cat for cuddles etc. Let them come to you.

Their toe beans smell of digestive biscuits 🥰

That they need space outside the home, not too hemmed in with other cats' territories. The stress of that can give them thyroid problems. Also they are not suited to not going out as in being a house-only cat. They need freedom to roam outside, but a space of their own.

They are in fact the master race of the universe, but allow us poor saps to think we are. Therefore they never do anything remotely like the w word, as we do it all for them. What other creature in history has pulled off this trick in relation to humans - neither a worker nor a prisoner? Neither useful nor kept confined. Free and does its own thing. Wonderful!

That they can be very affectionate. Mine talk to be, hug me and will sit on me the moment I sit down. They are very different to dogs though, they often ignore you when called. They don’t take instruction. Everything is on their terms.

They are not pack animals but can form a strong bond with each other. My littermate pair are very close. At 10 years of age they still sleep with paws wrapped around and are always grooming each other.

They are territorial and need a routine. They enjoy being outside, I get a lot of pleasure watching mine sitting under a bush, ears helicoptering, whiskers forward and sniffing the air. I can’t imagine keeping them inside.
