Dcat has been going outside the last few weeks, noticed him scratching earlier on and when he got off the sofa noticed little white things that google has said are likely to be eggs, just checked him and saw 2 fleas near his shoulders!
he’s been up in DDs bedroom, sleeping amongst her soft toys and on her bed.

what do I do to get rid of them and clear the house?!
everything is shut now so will have to wait until the morning to get some flea treatment from somewhere (any recommendations?)
Thanking you in advance (as I scratch the life out of myself!)

Bravecto from the vet - nothing else works so is a waste of money.
Indorex for the house - I use about 1 can/room as once you have covered all the skirting boards, hiding spaces, carpets, throws etc a can has gone.

Thank you
Is indorex toxic to humans? If it lands on soft toys etc? Dd is preteen but my baby granddaughter comes often

You cant say that only Bravecto works
I use stronghold plus from the vets and my cats have never had fleas.

dementedpixie · 12/08/2024 20:03

I would remove soft toys and bedding and wash what you can and spray the room without those items in there

ive been using stronghold on both my cats since i got them.. oldest is now 10 and never been bothered by fleas ever..

katie20202 · 12/08/2024 20:06

My cat has flea injections at the vets and they last 3 months

saxonyv · 12/08/2024 20:09

Thanks everyone

are the injections/treatment expensive?
he was a cat left behind by a neighbour so we’ve sort of taken him on without anticipating the costs!

I have a pet plan which is £16 a month, it covers all flea and worming, yearly booster injections and a 6 month health and dental check

We used frontline from the supermarkets for a while and realised it wasn’t working. I’ve come across other people who say not to bother with it.
Got stronghold from the vets and it’s totally cleared her fleas. Paid about £80 for six months worth but so worth it as we were just wasting our money on other stuff!

Go to the vet for flea treatments. Strip bedding etc, wash everything on a hot wash and get indorex flea spray. Thoroughly hoover everywhere then spray all carpets and skirting boards etc leaving the room for a while after spraying.

I recently had this

£70 at the vets

Sprayed the house a few times

The fleas hung around a few more weeks but have now disappeared

We use Stronghold Plus from the Vet. She spends most of her day outside but she once did come in with a flea on her back paw (she has white fur and I spotted and caught it straight away) and I panicked and phoned the vet. They told me that she will still have fleas that hop on and bite but they will die and Stronghold also stops the whole process of laying eggs. The flea I caught was easy to grab which apparently means it was probably half dead.

Fingers crossed we haven't had any more and I hoovered like a maniac. I'm so paranoid about fleas! My sister and her friend are the complete opposite and rarely use flea treatment on their cats!

Get a flea collar & put it in your hoover.
