My 5 year old boy isn’t “missing” exactly because it hasn’t been that long. He went out very early this morning at about 4am and hasn’t come back yet. I know that for a lot of cats this is normal, but I’ve had him for 4 years and he has NEVER been out this long before, even in the summer. He loves snoozing indoors and only ever goes out for 2 hours maximum. He mostly stays in the garden but recently I have seen him crossing the road on the front a couple of times.

I just asked a few people across the road if they’ve seen him today and one lady said “is it the fluffy one that keeps crossing the road?” This has made me so worried. It’s not a busy road, just a one way side street but still. It only takes one car. Feel like I’m in a constant state of worry about him lately! I’ve been out for a walk and kept my eye out for him but can’t see him anywhere. I know he’s probably just out having fun but it’s because it’s out of the norm that it’s worrying me

In the winter they seem to find the teeniest, most obscure places to hide in the house, and refuse to come out when called. In the summer they just fuck off under someone else's shed for the day, and still refuse to come back when called.

One of ours has taken to going out when the car flap opens at 5am, coming back at 6 to sleep on DD's bed, then getting up when she does and spending the next 12 hours in the same spot on the sofa. Like clockwork for the last two months. Except yesterday she thought she'd mix it up and have her 16 hour nap in some random, invisible place outside. Because why not? DD was convinced she'd been shut in/run over.
