Cat and mouse

I adopted a rescue cat as a pet for my little girl and also because I’m petrified of mice and we had them!

She sorted out the mouse issue and is very gentle with my daughter, she’s a playful cat.

BUT she either keeps bringing in mice through the cat flap OR we have mice again?! It happens at night. I’m not sure if she’s gone out hunting or found them inside. She’s usually shut in the kitchen where the catflap is but she’s currently chasing a baby mouse around the living room 🤢🤢😢🤯😰

Sometimes a live mouse other times we find a head under the kitchen table.

I am beside myself as I have a proper phobia. If I knew she was bringing them in I’d shut the catflap at night?

What is the usual? Bringing them in or finding them inside? And how can I tell?

She should be in overnight.
You wanted a mouser and you’ve got one!

@Wolfiefan should she? Do you think she’s bringing them in?

Yes, totally a mouser! She’s perfect really - brilliant with kids, playful and yes, a killer. It was ok when it was just worms she was bringing in…

I am literally about to faint

Cats should be in at night for their safety. I’m not sure why you’re about to faint. Restrict her to certain rooms overnight if you thing she’s getting them in the house. Sounds like you didn’t actually want a cat. Just a mouse exterminator.

Thanks, good idea.

Hmm, you might be right. She’s definitely more my daughter’s cat and is very loved. I’m an animal lover but so phobic of mice that I’ve come to associate her with them.

I had quite traumatic mouse experiences growing up on a farm and it’s scared me - hence the fainting.
