I'm trying to research whether to adopt a Scottish fold cross British Shorthair and wanted to know the experiences of people who have had either a Scottish Fold or the same cross - are they as prone to health conditions for the majority of their lives as the internet makes out?

My parents have a Scottish fold BSH cross. He's very highly strung but
Generally healthy. He's a lovely boy.

His rears are not particularly affected. And the rest of him isn't either.

He is very handsome!

Yes they are they have a gene defect that affects their cartilage formation meaning the vast majority are crippled with arthritis at a very young age.

A cross breed may not be affected so much. Mithril has mild arthritis, but that's age related.

Yes, the gene that causes the fold also affects their joints. It's completely cruel to breed them. Lifelong pain for a cute appearance.

If it's a cross. It's a mog!
