broken tooth

My cat has a tiny bit broken off one of the front top canines. No idea when this heppened, the vet noticed it when they had their most recent boosters and suggested the tooth is removed. We've had a quote, which is quite high, how vital is it this tooth is dealt with? Would hate to think of him being in pain but it is the tiniest bit that's broken off, we're talking 1mm.

Both my last 2 cats had ends missing off their canines, lived to 16 and 18 and vets never even mentioned it.

How old is the cat? Is the cat still eating and drinking normally?

I have more than that broken off some of my teeth from an accident and it isn't painful. I's only if a nerve is exposed or their face is swollen with a dental abcess you need to worry.

cat is 8, he's eating and drinking fine, seems as happy as he always is. I googled and the issue with cats long front teeth is the nerve goes all the way so potentially even a tiny break can leave it exposed. Other than the end missing the tooth looks fine, cat is on Canagan food so teeth are in very good nick for his age, never needed them cleaning as the food is good quality, made a huge difference teeth wise compared to our other cats, will never go back to supermarket pet food.

Our cat is 5 and he's had half a front tooth missing most of his life. Never had any issues and vet said wasn't worth operating on if no pain

Sybil lost a lump off one of her top canines years ago. Never caused any issue at all.
