Because cat…

Cats are neither diurnal nor nocturnal, but crepuscular. They are both matutinal and vespertinal.

Basically this means they are not active during the day and night, but around dawn and dusk.

My recall is that this is because this is when their prey are active, so they are good hunting times.

So they have a burst of energy at these times to help them be effective hunters.

Or as suggested above - just because. I had a couple of months break from it after Boycat was PTS and while Tobias was still restricted to his bedroom, but it happens quite often again now.

Plus don't expect the 4am zoomies to get later with the sunrise - it's still 4am here even in the depths of winter!

It’s their body clock. I wear ear plugs so I do t know what mine does.

As above, it's because cats are crepuscular - it's ours are shut downstairs overnight Grin

Knowing it's down to her natural instincts makes it somewhat easier to bear! Thanks for all your responses. Feeling somewhat drowsy now 😄
