Not using litter tray after neutering?

Hi,
Just after some advice please. I got my 7 month old female kitten spayed on Friday. She won't keep the outfit on they gave her to protect the wound, she doesnt seem to be grooming the area though.
She has been hiding under my cupboard over the weekend, doesn't want to be touched...understandable but is eating and drinking okay.
I came downstairs today and there was wee on the front room floor and then later on poo near the back door. She's never had accidents before, always used the litter tray.
Is this normal following an operation?

It is possible that the contents of the litter tray is scratching her tender wound when she squats. I can see that would a) be uncomfortable /painful and b) would put her off using the tray for awhile.

something soft in the litter tray like sawdust/wood pellets or even just a puppy pad or two might help for a week/10days whilst she heals.

Thank you, that makes sense!

I would phone the vet for advise. Is she using the litter tray as well and just had a couple of accidents or has she not used it at all?

PS I expect her wound is too high up to be scratched by the litter. My first thought was possibly a urinary infection - they can be brought on by stress in cats

She has used the litter but then had these two accidents.
I rang the vets , they said because they are seeing her for post op check up on Friday...to see how she goes til then.

I would want her seeing before Friday - that's not normal at all in my experience, neither is the hiding away.

I'd be concerned that she's still in pain or has some kind of infection.

I’m thinking pain too.

I would want her seen sooner too. The hiding is concerning, that indicates she’s in pain.

My cat was spayed a few months ago and was back to normal almost as soon as she got home. I’m not saying it’s the same for all cats, but please do get her checked.
