Worried about lump on cat

My cats got vaccinated nearly 4 weeks ago. This week I felt a small lump on one of them, quite deep under the skin, not attached to anything and moveable.

was back today for second vaccines ( as they’d lapsed) but with the vet nurse not the vet. Asked he about the lump. She seemed quite relaxed about it, thought a reaction to the vaccine and said leave it a month and if still there then get it checked out.

Of course I foolishly googled ( as don’t know felt two months seemed a long time to leave it) and started reading about vaccine sarcomas 😬. So now I’m most likely irrationally worrying. And thinking of booking a vets appointment for next week - so would be 5 weeks since the vaccine?

Am I being totally silly to do this? Am an anxious person I freely admit.

No, you're concerned about your pet, book an appointment and you might feel better if the vet reassures you.

I know lumps can commonly form at injection sites so most likely that's what it is.

I've had cats with abscesses and benign tumours easily removed too, they can have lumps for all different reasons.

I understand the anxiety but try not to worry unnecessarily, you sound like a responsible owner who just loves their pet.

Thanks @Cuckoochanel80 - I agree it is most likely just an injection reaction ( just 4 weeks seems a long time for it to be there) but I think I will book him in for next week - for my mental health if nothing else 😁. And I can convince myself I’m being reasonable by giving it another week …

Yeah I think that sounds like a plan

I'm not a medical person or anything but I used to have to inject myself with blood thinners and would end up with awful lumps at the injection sites for quite after.
Don't worry, your cat is lucky to have you looking out for them 😺

My cat had the same after his first lot of injections. The vet said it was perfectly normal. It lasted several weeks then gradually disappeared.
