I'm sorry if this has been asked already or if it upsets anyone.
A friend's cat has gone missing and we were talking about how he might have been hit by a car and picked up by the council.
A quick Google has shown that legally they don't have to scan any cats they collect.
As it will become law to have your cats microchipped next month, will this change? Will the council have to scan any cats they collect from the side of the road?
My boy went out on a Sunday in September last year and didn't come home. We called the council and to be honest they were useless. Thankfully he came back two weeks later, we think he was being nosey in someone's house and they didn't see him, locked up and went away for two weeks. He was very skinny when he came home, but he was alive. The vet said he was very lucky to have had access to water wherever he was!
Is it now going to be a legal requirement that the council have to scan a cat they collect or are us loving cat owners expected to live with the not knowing? Which is the hardest thing ever!
The last petition from my area (London) was in 2008!!
