Moving litter trays

Our rescue pair have settled in brilliantly and use their litter trays 100% reliably. At the moment the trays are in a sitting area because it was the only place we could to keep the girls contained/ safe when they first arrived.

They have access to more trays in a bathroom and in the utility, and have used both

Longer term we'd like to move the litter trays out of the sitting room during the day, but will keep the cats in that room at night for safety.

Will they adapt to different arrangements for day and night - trays in 2 rooms during the day and a different room at night? Or should we find a permanent solution that keeps their trays in the same places all the time?

Novice cat servants here so all advice welcome.

We recently adopted a wee ginger fella and initially had a tray in the middle of the living room floor - really not ideal! After a few days I moved it to a corner of that room, and then a few days later to the hall. He has a further tray in the kitchen. We aren’t keeping him in one room overnight though, he tends to sleep on the couch and always has used a tray when we get up.

Our previous cat was kept overnight in the kitchen because she would be in our bed mithering for breakfast at 4am. She had a tray in there and one in the hall but mainly toileted outside unless she was really stuck. I’m hoping once we start letting this little thug out he will do the same!

Mine would be fine but I know other cats who wouldn't like the change. Could you somehow put the litter trays in a cupboard with a flap or something so they're not noticeable?

Our original plan was to put them in the kitchen at night where they would be able to access the litter tray in the utility. But they are so comfortable in the sitting room I am very reluctant to move them. We are still in early days (not been here 2 weeks yet) so are not going to rush anything.
