Arthritic cat

My wee cat (12 years old) has been diagnosed with arthritis, she had a couple of monthly injections which maybe marginally helped but not that much, however they are very expensive (£100 a month) recently my hours at work were reduced and I can no longer afford this treatment - I feel awful, for her, I give her you move supplements but to be honest I don’t think they help much either, I’m at a loss, she still has a good quality of life, just v stiff looking, a bit limpy, and sleeps a lot. I feel awful that I can’t afford the treatment the vet advised - can anyone tell me of other treatments they know of?

Sorry your cat is struggling. Have a look at glucosamine and cod liver oil. I use human cod liver oil for mine just pierce the capsule and mix it in with her food.

I agree green lipped mussel worked for my cat the vet even told me to try it. I used to get it in capsules in Holland And Barrett and opened the capsules sprinkle half on his food mixed it in.Only half though every morning.

There really isn't a cure for arthritis OP.. if there was then humans wouldn't suffer as they do

While there are some things that may delay its progression and ease the pain, you're really not denying her something that would 'fix' her.

Has the vet suggested any analgesia? I'm not sure what cats can have but I'd ask.

Not a cure but my cat stopped limping so it did help.

Is it solensia? It was helpful for ours but you absolutely have to keep it up regularly for it to be effective. That said - it should be less expensive than £100 / month

Do ask your vet if there is something else your girl could have as I’ve seen on the Litter Tray boards that there are many different options. I do hope you find something to help her.
