We are picking up our bonded pair tomorrow. We have followed all the advice and it is exciting but can’t help being anxious as one of them is timid. A room is set up with beds, lined cardboard boxes, water and food bowls, cat tree, litter trays (one each) and toys. We left blankets and a bed at the rescue to bring home with them. My adult DD is ready to take the lead in helping them to settle so I may not even see them for a while! Wish us luck!

It sounds like you’re all prepared, hope it goes well!

How lovely, enjoy your new furry bundles of chaos! You'll need to pay the usual cat tax later though... thank you!😍

Aw, sounds like they're coming home to a lovely set up!

😍

Cat tax will of course be paid. They were considered harder to rehome as one is both timid and pure black. Not long now!

We had a bonded pair from a rescue one was very timid and hid for a few days so we left him to it, he ate and I assume drank so we let him come out when he was ready. Took him a few days. That was 12 years ago and he is the loveliest fella, very loving and no longer timid. We are absolute slaves to our pair, it'll work out!

Good luck, I'm sure they will reward your patience!

Bumping this thread and hoping for cat tax pics asap please!

Ha! One of ours was calm and loved to be fussed, clearly a former house pet although found straying, while the other was timid and known never to have had a home. The rescue said hopefully the timid one would watch and learn from the more confident one. Within the first day the placid cat had taken up determined residence under the furniture while the nervous one was exploring everywhere and enjoyed playing with a feather on a stick. Clearly curiosity won out over timidity. After less than three months, "placid" cat is now bolder but still inclined to hide at scary things (like opening the curtains Hmm), while "timid" cat is affectionate and demanding (and loves to murder feet). So you never know for certain until they actually settle in.

How are they getting on, OP?

Pics please x

They've been with us a week and are settling really well. The older (calico) is a very vocal lapcat and the younger, although quite easily spooked, is happy to explore the house and catio, and will snooze next to us on the sofa - we don't know if she will be a lapcat in the longer term, but we're taking it at her pace.
