Cat has perennial problem of only eating the jelly/gravy and leaving the actual meat unless he has a pate/mousse consistency.

im looking for a pate/mousse which is/has:

  • complete food (not supplemental)
  • high meat content
  • no grains/cereals/carbs (if poss)
  • high moisture (around 80%)
  • low ash (under 2%)

Anyone got any recommendations?

thanks!

Feringa. You can get it from ZooPlus and they do trial packs too. You want the little trays not the tins :)

Scrumbles!

Blink's pate is also good, high protein but only two flavours

Expensive but Canagan.

Less expensive - Feringa or Animonda Carny.

We're using KatKin, it's fresh cooked and delivered frozen and stored in your freezer at home. Our super fussy cat is loving it (except the fish) and her poo's are nowhere near as stinky, extra bonus

Schesir After Dark comes in pate and mousse.

We use scrumbles

What about Weebox mousse? We add a little warm water to it for our fussiest cat as a treat/ to kick start them eating if they've had off days (assorted neurotic / fussy cats here!)

I believe there is still some debate about the benefits of a grain free diet for cats? I understand studies have shown it better for dogs but not for cats.

I think it's the opposite actually, vets don't recommend grain free for dogs - something to do with heart problems due to the fillers used to replace the grain. I haven't seen anything similar about cat food.

Carny from zooplus

The Amazon Life own brand one. The pate is out of stock at the moment though.
My cat does the same (leaves the lumps) but he would eat all of Lidl OceanFresh (until he went to the cattery for a week and became a fuss-pot again)
