The litter tray

New kitten and tracking litter

Morning mumsnetters, first time posting in the litter tray after a long time lurking and admiring everyone else's cats. I recently got a kitten, she's a 14 week old British Shorthair and as you can see from the tax paid below she's beautiful. The only problem so far is that she tracks litter all over the house which was not something I anticipated! I'm using the same brand as the breeder did (Lidl coshida clumping) but wondered if anyone has experience of a litter which doesn't stick to paws and end up appearing in random places!

Aw she is beautiful! We also have a BSH and she is the most cuddly cat.

We use silica crystal cat litter, ours was recommended by our breeder and it's great! Lasts for ages, no smells as long as you remove the poops and it doesn't get stuck to her paws. We get ours from B&M.

We also have a mat under her litter tray which we got from Argos and it catches any stray bits of litter.

Hope this is helpful!

Enjoy your beautiful new kitten 😻

You shouldn't really use clumping litter for kittens in case they swallow it.

I would use a kitten litter until she's around six months. Pop a mat under the litter tray to help with tracking.

By the way that's not a cat - you've actually been sold a cloud Grin

Wooden pellet litter doesn't seem to track and reduces smells, cheapest place is pets at home, two massive sacks for £20

Thanks for suggestions so quickly! I'll look at all of them. I've got the litter mat under the tray, it captures a lot of it but not all...didn't know about kittens potentially swallowing clumping litter! And yes @fieldsofbutterflies she is just a wee cloud!
