Hi everyone,

i have a cat who for the last year has been regularly sick sometimes every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

this started last year when I was pregnant and had terrible morning sickness. At first I thought it was her food, so I changed it - no improvement.

Then I thought it was because I was so sick, I wasn’t giving her enough affection, I tried to do more - no improvement.

Then I thought maybe it was sympathy sickness and took her to the vet. He refused to look into it and said she looked fine and that was it.

Around September, she stopped being sick and I thought we had cracked it until this weekend, we went in the garden for the first time since September and that night she’s sick everywhere. She stayed in bed the next day and didn’t move but was back to normal by the evening.

It made me think… is something in the garden poisoning her??! I know it’s my garden as I have a cat fence so she is kept in one place.

i have some photos of the garden, please can people have a look and let me know if there’s anything I need to remove.

thank you in advance.

Can't see a photo. I would ho back to the vet though, try a different one if the first one wasn't interested, that's very poor service.

Is there anything in flower right now? I'm thinking she might be washing pollen off. Or algae from a plant pot or container that she's drinking rain water from.

Thanks, I was very disappointed by the vet’s attitude. I think I will need to find a new vet.

Yes all vaccinations and everything up to date. Poo normal and uses litter tray regularly. She’s fit and well apart from these episodes.

Hard to know what you've planted. The cats protection have a list of outdoor plants poisonous to cats which you can download, it's a long list.

Does that water feature ever get cleaned properly and does she drink from it?

My cats have started moulting. The vomit is probably fur balls.

Edited

These photos were taken this afternoon. So everything is out at the moment. I think something may be rubbing on her rather than her eating it but that’s just a guess! Water comes from the water butt through the gutters. She drinks from the watering can but also has fresh water inside. Do you think it could be the water butt?! I use this water for the birds / hedgehogs too.

OP- I think the plants in the top right of this photo- a large area- are rhododendrons, which are poisonous to cats.

Yes, it’s cleaned fairly regularly with boiling water and soda crystals which I rinse out. She shouldn’t be able to get that dirty water as it’s rinsed away.

My cat pukes whenever she eats anything green outside. Grass mainly. Are there any plant bits in her vomit?

This is part of the problem, my garden was empty and people have given me plants and I’ve forgotten what exactly they are. I’ve looked at the list before posting and couldn’t see anything on the dangerous list. Quite a lot on the ‘safe’ list though.

Thanks - that is one of the few plants I know I bought which is a choisya- I’m afraid the upload quality of the photo isn’t good.

I'd stop the watering can, cats do drink from puddles and birdbath but there might be something in the gutters or water butt, they are full of insects, parasites and rotten leaves and moss.
