7 month old kitten - male but neutered. He has gas smells horrific and always has on and off. Today he has pooed and its just brown liquid and smell making me gag. Have made appt with vet.

I buy him iams wet kitten food but he wont always eat it and sometimes eats my older cats food - purina gourmet pouches. Could this be upsetting his stomach? Tbf hes always eaten it and this is only 2nd time hes had such an upset stomach. Other than this hes happy and healthy vet said...bit on skinny size but always has been. Runt of litter.

Had loads of cats but never one that smells like this.

If he goes out, he could have eaten something that disagrees with him.

Adult food is probably too rich for him - can you get microchip feeders so that they can only access their own, age-appropriate food?

When our kitten was that age, he would sometimes pinch his older brothers' food and it always ended with an upset stomach. He's much closer to one now and can tolerate it fine.

I'd pop him on a diet of plain boiled white fish (available in supermarket) for a few days until his poops are back to being solid, and for a couple of days after to let his tummy settle

You can get probiotics from the vet you can sprinkle on food

Is he regularly wormed?

Our BSH had a terrible tummy, after a couple of vet visits I asked if I could try a prescription diet he's been on a hypoallergenic biscuits ever since and touch wood we haven't been back since!

I have to insist DH is really strict with the food, he has his biscuits and nothing else, it's not worth the flare ups - he was ok with a little turkey at Christmas but again I was very strict just a couple of pieces

Ironically my ragdoll can't have too much of the hypoallergenic or she gets dodgy tum!! It's finding the right food for them if they're sensitive, I think iams is quite rich
