Council flat and cats - cat flap / balcony door

I would like to fit a cat flap on one of the panel of my balcony door - the material is UPVC I think.

Anyone here had this done?
I’m researching if this is possible and the basic steps / things to look out for so I can assess with the trades person know what to do - lots of cowboys around these days.

Also cat flap recommendations greatly appreciated - I don’t need one with microchip reader though.

Thank you.

It must be easy to cut out a upvc door to insert a cat flap as commonly done as diy.
Id be more concerned as to whether this is something you’d have to make good if you ever leave the property plus obviously is the balcony a safe place to be ie you are going to secure it such that your cat can’t fall or escape?

Presumably if you move out you just replace with a new PVC panel.

Make sure you get permission first as this could be a very expensive recharge. Are you allowed to have the cat in your flat?

Thanks

Yes, I’m allowed cats and the balcony is safe and secure but I want free flow since I plan to re-locate the litter tray.

I plan to stay long term so not worried about replacing it atm but I think the panel will need to be removed and re-attached and I don’t want it to look ugly.

I have two left hands so DIY is unthinkable

Ds put one in his door. Just cut shape and sealed it.

It is very easy to fit a cat flap in a upvc door and a quick search on Amazon comes up with suitable cat flaps. It’s not that difficult to replace a upvc panel in a door to make good when you do leave (what colour is the door?). Technically you need permission to make changes and the council may even grant it if you asked but if you’re planning to stay long term and happy to get panel replaced when you do go I personally would just go ahead.
If you’re not good at diy I’d look for someone who can fit it, if you have a local double glazing company you may find they will otherwise a general handy man/builder.
