Natusan stopping selling cat litter - any suggestions for replacements?

I've been using Natusan wood litter for a long time but recently they have been out of stock for ages. I got an email today saying they were no longer selling in the UK and I'm gutted. It was lovely sustainable, long-lasting litter, there was no smell from the litter tray and my cat was happy with it too.

Because I needed some, I ordered this Cat's Best Wood Fibre Cat Litter, 4.3kg : Amazon.co.uk: Grocery from Amazon and it came today but it's almost like proper chunks of wood, not the smaller, lighter sort-of flakes of Natusan.

Obviously I will give it a go and gradually mix it in with the last half a bag of Natusan I have but in case it doesn't work, can anyone else suggest any nice wood litter please?

Thanks in advance Thanks

Good tips on here.

Thanks all :) I've started putting Cat's Best in with the last of the natusan so it's probably about 30:70 at the moment. My cat is fine with it at the moment but it really is much larger wood chips so I'm not sure how he'll be the nearer it gets to 100% CB.

I loved Natusan & devastated it no longer sells. I live in a flat with no garden so need my litter to be good on odour. I bought Tippaws & am sad to report that within a week the smell is not great & I’ve had to change the whole litter. Natusan it is not. The search goes on…

I switched to Katkin. It's ok. It smells of vanilla which is weird and I'm not a massive fan of that. But it doesn't stink of cat wee. Seems to clump well. Most importantly my fussy cat is fine with it AND because it's long strands it doesn't end up trailed over the whole house. My younger cat does kick it everywhere because he's a dick, but I don't mind a bit around the tray.

Sparticle · 10/04/2024 21:10

Thanks @PurringTabbyCat for that. I've been eaking out the last of the Natusan with the Cat's Best I bought but as it still isn't quite 100% CB I'm thinking of trying something else and I see that Katkin has 50% off the first bag so I'll try that next. I know where I can get Cat's Best again if I want to go back to it.

Argh that's a pain @Elrog73 :(

I switched to Katkin, which I prefer because it doesn't track. I still have 2 or 3 bags of natusan if anyone wants them - just cover postage - pm me!

Anameisaname · 10/04/2024 21:31

I use this one and it's really good. The poo dries out nicely and the clumpng works well

@Sparticle can I ask which you have ended up going with? I only just noticed we are down to our last bag of Natusan and wondered why I haven’t heard from them in a while (normally email once in a while to say subscription dispatched) so googled and this thread was the second result! Feels funny to love a cat litter!

Jollyes pet store sell a brand called Cats Best and it's been the closest thing to Natusan that I can find! I'm getting on really well with it and so are the cats so it might be worth a try

Amazon Lifelong Clumping corn litter is good - slightly cheaper than Okoplus Cat's Best litter and also low odour.

blackcherryconserve · 23/08/2024 18:55

Cats Best has been the one for us. Clumps very well, no odour and very little tracking. It lasts for ages too.

No! I didn’t see the email til you posted this! Argh that’s annoying!

They are suggesting Catsan as a replacement. Do you know anything about that brand?

I have used Catsan and I will never use it again, I am really struggling to find a replacement for Natusan, I loved that litter!

That's the first reference I've seen to ökoplus. That's currently the nearest we've found in this house, but they still don't like it anywhere near as much as they loved natusan. It does track a bit more and it doesn't clump as cleanly. But it is quite similar, so some cats may like it. Doesn't last quite as long because it turns more into sawdust eventually, rather than the clean clumps, so needs total refresh faster, but it doesn't smell. It is definitely the best we've found so far. Hesitant to try tippaws after range of reviews, but still open to a permanent replacement so might have a go.
Katkin scoop utterly failed fussy furries here. Turns into concrete in the tray, it's disliked but tolerated by one, ignored by two unless absolutely desperate 🙈
